Welcome!
We are so glad you're here. We've written this policy to be as clear as possible — no "legalese" or confusing jargon. Our goal at Auroli is to help you understand your brain and body so you can live a more focused, balanced life.
To do that, we need to handle some of your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, how we keep it safe, and who we share it with. By using Auroli, you agree to these practices.
1. Our Core Principles
Privacy First
Your biological data is yours. We don't sell it to advertisers.
Transparency
We only collect what we need to make the app work for you.
Safety
We use industry-standard encryption to keep your data under lock and key.
2. What We Collect (And Why)
TL;DR: We collect your account info and health data from your wearable to build your daily plan.
Account Information
Your name and email address so you can sync your data across devices.
Biometric & Health Data
With your permission, we sync with your wearable via Apple HealthKit, Terra API, Spike API, and supported integrations (Oura, Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop, Polar, Samsung Health, and others). This includes HRV (Heart Rate Variability), sleep patterns, activity levels, and nutrition.
Why? This is the engine of Auroli. Without it, our AI can't tell you why your focus is low or how to plan your day.
Food Photos
When you use the nutrition analysis feature, you can photograph a meal. That photo is sent for analysis and is not stored permanently.
Usage Data
Which features you use and how often.
Why? To see what's actually helping you and what we should improve.
Communication
If you contact us for support, we keep that message to help solve your problem.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
Create Your Daily Plan
Our AI analyses your biometrics to suggest the best times for focus, rest, and movement.
Provide Insights
"Your energy is low today because your HRV dropped after late-night screen time."
Send Smart Nudges
Contextual notifications to remind you to hydrate or take a breather based on your real-time stats.
4. AI Features and Third-Party Data Processing
Auroli uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised wellbeing insights, daily recommendations, and coaching responses. To provide these features, certain data is processed by third-party providers.
4.1 OpenAI (AI Coach Feature)
When you use the AI Coach feature, anonymised wellness data is sent to OpenAI for processing.
What data is sent to OpenAI:
- HRV (Heart Rate Variability) scores
- Sleep quality and duration data
- Recovery levels
- Energy and mood scores
- Food photos (when using the nutrition analysis feature)
What is NOT sent to OpenAI:
We do not send any personally identifiable information to OpenAI. Your name, email address, and account credentials are never transmitted to any AI provider.
How OpenAI uses your data:
- OpenAI processes your data solely to generate your personalised insights
- OpenAI does not use your data to train their AI models under our API agreement
- Your data is not retained by OpenAI beyond the time needed to generate your response
- All data is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS connections
- OpenAI provides equivalent data protection under their Data Processing Agreement
For more information, see OpenAI's Privacy Policy at openai.com/privacy.
Your consent:
You will be asked to give explicit consent before using the AI Coach feature. You can withdraw this consent at any time under Profile → Privacy & Data in the app. Withdrawing consent disables the AI Coach feature but does not affect any other part of the app.
4.2 Terra API and Spike API (Wearable Device Integrations)
To connect with third-party wearables such as Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Polar, Fitbit, and Samsung Health, Auroli uses two wearable data platforms: Terra API and Spike API. Either or both may be used depending on your device and region.
What these platforms do:
Terra and Spike each act as a secure data bridge between your wearable device and Auroli. When you connect a wearable, you authenticate directly with your device provider through their standard OAuth flow. The platform then retrieves your health metrics and passes them to Auroli.
What data flows through Terra and Spike:
- HRV data
- Sleep quality and stage data
- Activity and movement data
- Heart rate data
Neither Terra nor Spike sells your data, and both provide equivalent data protection standards.
For more information, see Terra's Privacy Policy at tryterra.co/privacy
Spike's Privacy Policy at spikeapi.com/privacy-cookies-policy
5. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties for money. We only share data with:
AI and Data Processing Providers: OpenAI (AI coaching insights), Terra API, and Spike API (wearable device integrations), as described in Section 4 above.
Service Providers: Secure tools we use to run the app, such as cloud hosting, analytics (Firebase), push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), and email delivery. These providers only process data on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
Legal Necessity: Only if required by a court order or to protect the safety of our users.
6. Your Rights & Choices
You are in the driver's seat. At any time, you can:
Withdraw AI Consent
Disable AI data processing under Profile → Privacy & Data. This disables the AI Coach feature but does not affect the rest of the app.
Disconnect Wearables
Stop the data flow in your phone's settings or within the app.
Update Info
Change your account details in the app.
Access Your Data
Request a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting us at support@auroli.com.
Delete Everything
You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete My Account. We will permanently remove your data from our servers within 90 days of deletion.
7. Security
One of the best ways to keep data safe is to store as little as possible. We use encryption to protect your information in transit and at rest. All data transmitted to third-party providers (OpenAI, Terra) is encrypted via HTTPS. While no system is 100% unhackable, we work tirelessly to stay ahead of threats.
8. Children's Privacy
Auroli is designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 13. If we learn we have accidentally collected such data, we will delete it immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
As Auroli grows, we might update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via the app or email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
